Lemon Strawberry White Sangria

This was a big hit at our 4th of July summer party this year, but I warn you....it will get you drunk... feeling good. Now here's why:

Ingredients
2-3 bottles Riesling and/or Moscato (depending on number of people)
1 cup to 1 1/2 cups rum (I used capt morgan)
2 lemons
3 cups bing cherries
1 pkg strawberries
2 peaches
1 apple
*you can use really whatever fruit you have on hand

I used 2 bottles Riesling and 1 bottle Moscato, but that was only because I originally thought the 2 bottles would be enough but once in the punch bowl I realized I needed just 1 more bottle. I cut up about 3 cups cherries, halved and pitted. The strawberries as well are cut in half or quartered depending on size. I sliced the peaches, apples, and lemons and tossed everything in the bowl. At first I added only 1 cup of rum but on tasting decided it needed just a tad more. I have to say this was really really good especially since our party fell on a day where it felt like 105 degrees outside. I made it even more interesting by serving this with my grandma's old mason jars. This is SUPER easy and it really really good!!

Fatty Melt

I know I have already posted about the Buckeye Beer Engine and how great it is, but we went there again last night and I have to add to it! I had their very own Buckeye Porter and it was amazing. Now it's not as good as Willoughby Brewing Company Peanut Butter Coffee Porter but really nothing is. BUT this is a close second!!

Now of course I got the Fatty Melt, which let me remind you is a grilled cheese with tomato and bacon, then a 1/2 lb burger, then another grilled cheese sandwich. IT IS AMAZING!!!!

So if you are in Lakewood and want an amazing burger and really good beer go to Beer Engine. AND get the fried pickles cause they are the greatest thing on the planet!!!!! Pin It

St. Patty's Day in Cleveland

So I know its been forever since I have posted, but it's been a little crazy. So St. Patrick's Day was absolutely beautiful, what did everyone do? Well I can tell you what I did! Not only was it March Madness but it was like 75 degrees out!! So a little background about St. Patrick's Day.

Saint Patrick's Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, "the Day of the Festival of Patrick") is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March. It commemorates Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion (especially the Church of Ireland), the Eastern Orthodox Church and Lutheran Church. Saint Patrick's Day was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century, and has gradually become a celebration of Irish culture in general.
The day is generally characterised by the attendance of church services, wearing of green attire, public parades and processions, and the lifting of Lenten restrictions on eating, and drinking alcohol, which is often proscribed during the rest of the season.

Saint Patrick's Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Newfoundland and Labrador and in Montserrat. It is also widely celebrated by the Irish diaspora, especially in places such as Great Britain, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand, among others. Today, St. Patrick's Day is probably the most widely celebrated saint's day in the world.

Our 1st stop was Winking Lizard to watch Ohio State play!! Then we went to Burntwood Tavern and I had my first ever (and second) Irish Car Bomb! I must say the food there is amazing!!

An Irish Car Bomb is a beer cocktail that is drunk as a bomb shot, similar to a boilermaker. It is made with Irish stout, Irish cream, and Irish whiskey.
The whiskey is floated on top of the Irish Cream in a shot glass, and the shot glass is then dropped into the stout. Once mixed, it must be drunk quickly because it will curdle. While Kahlúa was part of the original recipe, it is often excluded from the drink today. Some refer to that original recipe as a Belfast Car Bomb.

The "Irish" in the name refers to the drink's Irish ingredients; typically Guiness stout, Baileys Irish Cream, and Jameson Irish Whiskey. The "Car Bomb" refers to the fact that the drink is a "bomb shot" and also to the many car bombings that took place during the Troubles in Ireland. For this reason, the name is sometimes deemed offensive and some bartenders refuse to serve it. The drink is virtually unknown in Ireland and ordering it there is likely to cause confusion or offense.

The night ended with our friend driving us home and us passing out! Overall a good day!

A Night Out in Willoughby

Pin It So last night Michael & I went out with some friends to Willoughby Brewing Company. Now the reason I initially wanted to go was for the Peanut Butter Cup Coffee Porter, because it may honestly be the best beer ever!! I had it a few weeks ago at Happy Dog and it was just as I had remembered it. Now I am addicted to it and just had to get it again. So we went to the source!!  We went to Willoughby Brewing Company and not only was the beer good but I have to say they have some damn good food! I had the Magma Burger which is a hand pattied burger w/ deep fried jalapeno popper, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, & their very own MAGMA sauce. Not really sure what Magma sauce is, but it was good!! And the above picture does not do this sandwich justice.
In the end we left with half a sandwich and a GROG of the best beer ever!!! Pin It

Chocolate Covered Pretzel..shot!

Pin It My good friend Danielle and I went out last night and she introduced me to this shot...and my life will never be the same. I am not a shot girl, in face I usually hold my nose and take shots cause I just suck at taking them. They give me that omg I am gonna vomit all over the bar kinda feeling. Oh but not this one! This one is SO good. Where were all these cool flavored vodka's when I was younger? Actually it probably would have gotten me in some serious trouble. The only real flavored liquor we drank was Mad Dog 20/20 and Sambuca. Ahhh those were the days at OU!

But I digress, this is such a good shot! Next time you are out, get one! You will not regret it. How do you make it? EASY!!!...mix half frangelico and half whipped cream vodka. Now your supposed to lick your hand that you put salt on and then take the shot. I guess you can but I chose not too. Pin It

Drunken Bears

Pin It So my 30th bday party is coming up and of course we are having a party to celebrate this momentous occasion. What to make, what to make?? Now of course there will be dips, appetizers, etc...but then I saw this!!! Drunken Gummi Bears!!

Drunken Bears

Drunken Bears are super easy to make. All you need are two ingredients: Vodka and Gummy Bears!! Simply put the gummies Tupperware, cover them in vodka and leave them in the fridge for a day or so.

Now I also used life saver gummies as well. For some reason they did not absorb the alcohol like the bears did. They were pretty strong! They did get a big slimy but were still good. I think next time I would use flavored vodka, might be a bit better!

*Please note this recipe includes alcohol and is intended only for adults over the age of 21. Please don't eat these and drive, operate heavy machinery or text. But if you are gonna do anything do the drunken txting, those are always funny to read the next day!

Buckeye Beer Engine

Pin It Last night was Date Night, so after trying to figure out where to go for about a hour we decided on an old time favorite- Buckeye Beer Engine. Now this is no normal burger, its a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and bacon, an all beef patty in the middle, then....another grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and bacon. It is properly named The Fatty Melt! It sounds horrible; horrible as in horrible for your waistline, your heart, etc. But this sandwich is glorious!!! By far one of the best things I have ever tasted!I have tried numerous items on the menu, now they are all good, but The Fatty Melt takes the cake!  The AWESOME Menu for you to peruse.

Now my husband, Michael, and I both got this fabulous meal, but here is a pic of how massive this sandwich is! I also highly recommend the Fried Pickles! I don't eat pickles normally, but these I will eat. They are soooooo good!
